carbide (K) / matrix 結合力 ---> 0 Therefore K films = micro cracks
So, there is no need to initiate micro cracks.
They are already there---in raw material, before hardening.
That's why I said: think of them as existing micro-cracks.
Under stress, microcracks along these small, seperated carbide particles will coalesce and become continuous on grainboundaries. That means, They grow into "microcracks", and in time, they grow into "macrocracks" and, finally, the material fractures.
